TITLE Blockchain Technology: Its Role in Ensuring Digital Rights Management and Transaction Transparency in Libraries
ABSTRACT The rapid digitization of library resources has created unprecedented challenges in digital rights management (DRM) and transaction transparency. Blockchain technology, with its decentralized, immutable, and transparent characteristics, offers innovative solutions to these persistent problems. This paper examines the application of blockchain technology in library systems, specifically focusing on digital rights management and transaction transparency. Through a comprehensive analysis of existing implementations and theoretical frameworks, this research demonstrates how blockchain can revolutionize library operations by creating tamper-proof records of digital asset transactions, ensuring proper attribution and licensing compliance, and enabling transparent tracking of resource usage. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining literature review with technical analysis of blockchain architectures suitable for library environments. Results indicate that blockchain-based systems can significantly enhance trust, reduce administrative overhead, and provide better protection for both content creators and library users. However, challenges including scalability, energy consumption, and technological literacy barriers remain. This paper concludes with recommendations for implementing blockchain solutions in library settings and identifies areas for future research.
